In this message, we are going to discuss an area where fear is healthy, but not the kind of fear that we would think. We are talking about our fear of God. Fear is defined in four different ways. Three of the ways all have to do with those things that we’ve talked about over the last three weeks. But only one of the definitions applies to what we will be talking about today. It is defined as a “respect or awe for somebody or something.” There seems to be a trend today among many people, Christians and non-Christians alike, to enjoy God but not really fear God. I hope through this message and series that we all will be able to identify the need to fear God.
In this message, we are going to look at one of the fears that many of us have when it comes to our relationship with God - the fear of disappointing God. We often live in fear of doing anything that might upset God and unfortunately that fear sometimes keeps us from doing anything for God at all.
In this message, we are looking at the fear of tragedy and how, as believers, we can stand firm in our faith in the midst of troubling times.
